I just finished dumping the VHS B-Roll master to the hard drive of my editing machine and have borrowed a U-Matic deck for the 3/4" masters. Editing will begin later this week and I hope to have it completed and shipping the first week of December.
DVD Update: the equipment I mentioned back in February was removed before I could gain access to it. However, I have found another source of a U-Matic player (semi-professional 3/4" video tape, circa 1985) and video digitizer to allow me to dump the master edit I made back in 1989 to a hard drive.
Spring and summer this year were pretty busy and this project is not a priority, although it is something I definitely want to do. I am hoping to get it done by October (the 21st anniversary of the party) and sell it online. Makes a great holiday gift!
There will also be a companion Special Features DVD with extra footage of the party setup, and some scenes from a Kernfield Party or two that I have squirreled away. All neat stuff from decades ago, when we were all tawnier and life was just opening up.
Well, I found the right equipment to get this project rolling, so I expect to have at least the first DVD ready for release by March. Yes, just mere weeks away.
I’ve also set up a group on Facebook for the party attendees that are online there.
I recently found the original U-Matic 3/4" tapes from the BK Army Terminal party / concert. I’m going to endeavor to get them digitized and maybe re-edit the tapes. It was a shit-load of work the last time on a linear editing system and the result was VHS. This new effort will be less time intensive and the end result will be DVD with all the extra footage that was shot, including investigating the basement and all the clean-up, which is fun to watch.
Can’t believe it was 18 1/2 years ago. Next October will be the 20th anniversary.
Maybe I should sell the video online. I’m sure some people would want a copy. Rat, you wouldn’t still have the list of people who attended (remember that disclaimer)? Anyway to spread the word?
